Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation (PM&R) or physiatry is a specialty of medicine that focuses on improving the function and quality of life of individuals after injury or illness results in a painful or disabling condition.

PM&R physicians have expertise in the diagnosis and non-surgical treatment of conditions involving the brain, nervous system, bones, muscles, and joints. Common conditions treated by PM&R physicians include: Brain Injury, Stroke, Spinal Cord Injury, Sports Injuries, Osteoarthritis, Spine Pain, Nerve Injuries, Spasticity, and other neurologic conditions
